Once the warm weather hits, we spend a lot of our time poolside. Whether it’s by our own pool or our neighborhood pool, my kids can’t get enough of the water! We recently enrolled Olivia in swim lessons at Big Blue Swim School and she has really been loving them – so far so good. It was initially a little tough to get her to feel comfortable in the water, but now she has really taken to the lessons. Benjamin recently joined a local swim team so he is very excited to be active in a different way! The swim team is going to be a time commitment, but we are looking forward to seeing his swimming abilities excel and grow over the next few months.
When it comes to poolside snacks, my approach is the same as everything else – healthy mixed with a little fun! Instead of sitting outside with a bag of chips, we usually find healthy alternatives to the usual foods that people enjoy outside in the heat and sun. Here are some of my favorites:
- Mini cucumbers
- Baby carrots
- Goldfish
- Berries
- String cheese
- Crackers
- Annie’s bunny fruit snacks
- Orange juice popcicles
- Popcorn
- Avocado mash
- Pretzels
- Go Go Squeeze Applesauce (I keep them in the fridge because my kids love them cold)
This weekend, we spent some time by our pool planting some greenery around the yard. I made this grazing board so that my kids could grab a snack while we were busy doing the yard work. They each helped plant a limelight hydrangea tree! They claimed one tree each, and it will be really fun to see how excited they get to watch them grow!
