Beauty products used to be very intimidating to me. I wondered if I would ever know the best products to use, in the right color shades, and at the right price points. Going into stores like Sephora or Ulta Beauty felt very overwhelming to me, and I struggled making even the smallest make up decisions. When I wanted to switch up my beauty routine, and move on to better products, I started taking things one step at a time. That really removed a layer of anxiety that I had previously been feeling. The biggest advice I can give is to really focus on what you feel is NOT working for you.
Moisturizer
Finding a good moisturizer can be really tough. There are so many different ones at varying price points and it’s hard to know which one is best for you. I really like this Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream because it moisturizes my skin really well, without feeling like I’m wearing a thick layer under my foundation. Finding a daily moisturizer that is really compatible with your skin does take some trial and error, but I have really been loving the Elemis products that I’ve tried!
Eye Cream
I have been loving this eye cream by Supergoop. It has a really nice brightening effect and sits nicely under my concealer. It also has SPF in it which is always a win in my book! I like using eye cream because it gives my under eye extra hydration, which helps to reduce puffiness and helps my concealer stay put.
Concealer
I really like this Shape Tape concealer by Tarte. It’s a cult favorite! I wear the color “light sand”. I apply with a damp beauty blender which I buy from Amazon. I think adding moisture to your beauty blender helps the concealer apply really nicely. Here are the exact ones I use!
Foundation
In the past, I had always used full coverage foundations, and always felt like my skin looked too thick and felt caked on. Through trial and error, I discovered that my skin looks and feels better in a CC cream or tinted moisturizer. I gravitate more towards CC creams, or “color correctors” because I do suffer from a bit of redness. That’s why this CC cream by IT cosmetics works really well with my skin. It helps even out my skin tones, yet still feels light enough and that I’m not adding a thick layer to my face. I am in the color Medium. The It Cosmetics CC cream also has SPF in it, so I even wear it when I sit by my pool or go to the beach.
I also like using tinted moisturizers when I don’t feel like wearing too much make up. This tinted moisturizer from Tarte is great because it helps keep my skin hydrated while still giving me a bit of color. I wear the color Medium Neutral.
Brows
I always switch up what I use on my brows because I do like to try new products. I am currently using this brow color which is a creamy consistency and it comes with a nice angled applicator. I also use this brow pencil from IT Cosmetics and like this just as much! Brows are so important, and I really toy with getting my brows microbladed. My face is asymmetric, so having consistent brows helps balance out my look! I’m still on the fence about microblading, so if you tried it let me know your thoughts!
Eyes
I love a natural looking eye and tend to use shimmery golds and browns on my lids to accentuate my green eyes. I really like using this Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick on my cheeks, and also use it on my eyes! For my liner, I love this eye liner which is a pencil and liquid liner in one!
For mascara, I really like using an eyelash primer! This one by Covergirl is really great! I’ve used both high and low brands, and never really notice a difference so I just stick with this one because it’s a great price point. For mascara, I love this mascara by Benefit. I alternate between that and this mascara by Tarte called Sufercurl. Both are great and make my lashes look a million times longer!!
Cheeks
I love using the Bobbi Brown bronzer in the color Medium. It applies really well and gives a really nice color. For blush, I have been loving this blush by Tarte in the color “captivating”. It’s a really pretty peach color! Finally, I love this Milk highlighter in the color “lit”. It adds a really pretty sun kissed glow to my cheeks!!
