When it comes to home decor style, I tend to play it neutral. I love a clean, creamy white color palette to work with and add to around each room. Thankfully, many of my favorite stores give me plenty of inspiration to work with! I’ve tried to stay away from too many trends and focus on what I truly love – which is a sticking with creams, beiges, whites and golds.
When we first bought our home, I didn’t really understand what my home decor style would be. Our house is traditional and I knew I wanted to stay true to the bones of our home. Over the past two years, I’ve tried to hone in on how I want my home to feel, not how I want it to look. I didn’t want a home where kids weren’t allowed on the furniture or where I would have to stress over every little move they made. Instead, I love the feeling of a cozy and warm home, that’s inviting but also feels true to my style. It’s not always easy to do, and my home is still a work in progress.
I rounded up a few items that we have in our home that made great anchor pieces. They are pieces that you can put in a room and build your decor around. I think they go beautiful in a home of any style, whether it be traditional, mid-century modern or modern farmhouse. Take a peek and let me know what you think!
- Chandelier – This gorgeous chandy hangs above our breakfast table. We have it set on a dimmer, and it gives the room a ton of character!
- Woven Tray – I keep this adorable tray on my kitchen island. You can add candles and greenery to it and dress it up for the seasons. I love adding texture like this around my house, and my kitchen is no exception.
- Gold Round Mirror – Everyone needs a round gold mirror in their life! It makes for a great piece above an entryway table or dresser. It’s simple yet has an elevated quality to it.
- Boxwood Wreath – I love boxwood wreaths of all sizes, but I especially adore this one! Add ribbon and hang it on the top end of a mirror or hand it off of your kitchen island chairs!
- Whitewashed Table – This table is one of my most favorite pieces in my home! We have it under our gallery wall but it would be a beautiful entryway table if space allows. It has hidden drawers and the whitewashed color is beautiful. You can really personalize this piece to fit your style and get creative during the holidays.
- Cream Tufted Bench – I love this creamy oatmeal colored bench which can double as a side table,. It’s really unique and adds something fun to your living room!
- Bashir Arm Chair – This chair had me at tan stripes. I love the look of this chair, and I have it in my bedroom and living room.
- Floor Lamp – I love the look of this gold lamp, and it adds great lighting to our living room.
- Gold Lanterns – I love keeping gold lanterns on my fireplace. These are similar to the ones there all year round.
